About the event
Archaeologists from the Grosvenor Museum, in partnership with the University of Chester, will be running their annual training excavation for archaeology students in Grosvenor Park from 25 April – 20 May 2022. For three days during the festival the archaeologists and volunteers will be in the pavilion in the park cleaning the finds from the dig. Drop in to see what they are doing and what has been found in this year’s excavation.
Previous digs have discovered a Roman Road, ditches from the Saxon and Medieval periods and a large building destroyed in the Civil War, with countless finds to tell stories of Chester’s Past. Learn more about the finds from 2021 here.
