About the event

This guided walk, led by Paul Hyde of Chester Civic Trust will explore these three key aspects (Romans, Rows and Revival) around the heart of the city and will help explain why central Chester looks and feels as it does today.  Starting at the Cross the walk will tour the city’s main streets and venture along sections of the Rows.  It will end at the Roman Southeast Angle Tower next to the Newgate.  It will include spotting places where the city’s Rows (which were once more extensive) have been lost.

Booking for this free event opens at the end of May.

Please note: this walk includes many steps and inaccessible areas. It is not intended for children, although suitable for older teenagers.

Paul Hyde is leading another walk ‘Heading South!’ and giving three lectures: ‘Firm’ Foundations, Chester’s 3 Rs and 20th Century Chester, during the first part of the festival. See the calendar of events for full details.
