About the event
This walk led by Paul Hyde of Chester Civic Trust heads south from outside the Falcon Inn to discover the rich heritage between the lost site of the Roman South Gate and the ancient quarry in Edgar’s Field Park crossing the historic Old Dee Bridge. This is an area that by the mid-20th Century was in a dilapidated state and ‘heading south’ but revived by a major conservation initiative. Lower Bridge Street is also a street which once had Rows but which have been either enclosed or demolished - apart from one small section.
Booking for this free event opens at the end of May.
The walk includes no steps. Please note that it is not intended for children, although suitable for older teenagers.
Paul Hyde is leading another walk Chester’s 3Rs and giving three lectures: ‘Firm’ Foundations, Chester’s 3Rs and 20th Century Chester, during the first part of the festival. See the calendar of events for full details.
