About the event
Originally the largest inland dock system in the UK, transferring raw materials to the industrial heartlands of Birmingham & Manchester; and finished products around the world.
The museum showcases the history of the canals and the lives and times of the people who worked on them. There are hands-on exhibits, a children's playground, and family friendly interactives across the 7- acre site - both indoors and outside.
No booking is necessary for these special free admission days on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 September.
The museum is fully accessible but there are uneven surfaces and narrow entrances in the cottages. Refreshments are available.
