About the Event
Join Heritage Chester and English Heritage partner at Chester's Roman Amphitheatre for a thrilling Roman Day, where two thousand years of history comes to life before your eyes.
Watch a Gladiator school in action, chat to Romans about daily life in Chester's legionary fortress, and get up close with finds uncovered from the amphitheatre excavations. Feeling brave? Step up for a Gladiator workout led by Amanda Wah, winner of BBC Gladiators 2025 — and find out if you've got what it takes.
There's also a chance to meet English Heritage volunteers, hear about their work at the site and find out how you can get involved.
Whether you're a history enthusiast or just looking for a brilliant family day out, this is your chance to immerse yourself in Chester's Roman past.
Free. Suitable for all ages.
Activity timings will be announced closer to the festival — check back here for the full timetable.
