About the Event
Chester City Morris Men invite you to share their love of local heritage and join them to perform a traditional Cheshire morris dance, selected from their unique repertoire. Morris dancing is a venerable custom once enjoyed and cherished in communities right across the land; more and more people are rediscovering its joys, so don’t miss out - why not learn how to morris dance Chester Morriss Men-style as part of this year’s Heritage Festival celebrations?
Everyone welcome: This workshop is open to all and will run for about 60 minutes. No previous dance experience is necessary: we welcome all abilities, though be aware that this lively activity makes, of necessity, perceptible demands of one’s physical fitness, stamina and co-ordination.
No clogs needed: All you need to bring with you are comfortable flat shoes or trainers and plenty of bottled water; clothing suitable for exercise is recommended. Our musicians will supply the tunes and expert teaching will be provided by the Squire (the side’s esteemedleader). By the end of the session you’ll be so seized by the delights of morris dancing that you’ll immediately start saving up for a pair of shiny black clogs ...
