Unravel the story of the Port of Chester and its role in the history of the city through almost 2000 years. Be guided by Tour Guide Marie Layng through the sites of the Roman and Medieval harbours, the later Old Port Area and lastly the Canal Basin. Tickets cost £10 to be booked in advance.

Explore the port of Chester through the ages with Marie Layng of the Guild of Tour Guides.  Discover why the Romans came to Chester, the importance of the port in the Middle Ages, the reason King Charles I was desperate to defend it during the Civil War and, finally, the struggle to compete with the rise of Liverpool.
