Walking around Chester you will soon realise there is much to explore and whatever aspect of the city’s heritage appeals there is probably a self-guide to suit you. If you just wish to dip in and out of Chester’s past, try spotting the historic plaques. For Festival 2023, local historian Linda Shuttleworth and green badge guide Caroline Ellison prepared a trail of these and a comprehensive description of what each commemorates.
