The Chester Tour

Discover Chester with the Guild of Chester Tour Guides.

The Chester Tour is the perfect way to explore the 2000-year story of Chester from its Roman origins right up to the present day. Discover how the river dominated the development of the city, from being the border bridging point of the largest Roman Fortress in the country then growing into one of the busiest Medieval trading seaports in England. Learn about the impact of the silting of the Dee and how Chester re-emerged as a gentrified city in the Georgian and Victorian eras.

You will, of course, take in all the main sights along the way, maybe even exploring some of the hidden away treasures that can still be seen today – if you know where to look!

The 90-minute tour leaves the Visitor Information Centre in Town Hall Square every day of the year at 10:30, again at 14:00 from Easter to the end of October and at 14:00 on Thursdays to Sundays inclusive throughout November. The tour is fully accessible.

£10 per person. Tickets purchased direct from the Guide on the day. Up to two under 16s go free with an accompanying adult.
